Mommy is Crying...First Birthday
There is cake and icecream
And there are presents all wrapped
I've been really good today
I'm all rested and napped.
But mommy has tear stains
All over her cheeks
And her voice comes out shaky

What could it be that awoke me

Today Was Your Birthday
Today was your birthday
And your family forgot!
You thought they would remember
But they did not!
Today was your special day
And you looked forward to hearing
All of the good birthday wishes
And perhaps a bit of cheering!
You remembered all of their birthdays
And made each one a special card
And now you feel a bit let down
Surely it would not have been too hard...
A simple little telephone call
Or even a note it could have been-
A little boquet from the florist
Or some simple trinket they could send...
But you didn't hear from them
And now you are feeling a bit blue
You say it's not fair but don't dispair
They will remember before the week is through!
Be gracious when they remember
And treat it as a simple lapse of memory
And show them the love and forgiveness
That goes along with being family!

But please don't worry
Love and prayers and wishes
Are not to be in a hurry!
My wish for you on this special day
And each day the whole year though
Would be that all your fondest dreams
Would finally come true!
May God look upon you
With His love and Grace
And may His loving arms surround
With a warm embrace.
